Gathering Lingerie Supplies

Updated: Nov 11, 2020

Hello ladies and gents,

I’m sorry it’s been a few weeks! Start of semester is insane in creative writing. I had to have minimum 15-page story handed in by the 15th (assigned on the 4th). Craziness, I know, but I managed it… barely. This is going to be a bit of an exciting post for me as it’s the first of many to come regarding my journey in lingerie sewing! And since I was behind on posting anyway, I’ve decided to wait until today because it’s my birthday (yay) and I ordered myself a bunch of gifties!

Any who, onto this week’s post. I’ve been working diligently on my sketch-a-day challenge since the start of 2016 and wanted to show you a couple of the lingerie sketches that I’d like to prototype soon.

As you can see, I’m super into the cage lingerie right now and I’ve ordered elastic in 8mm and 12mm from Jasmine Ines of Sin & Satin that she had left over in her stash! She is an incredibly talented corsetiere and lingerie seamstress. I also ordered a plethora of rings and hooks and sliders off Ebay that were suggested by a member of a bra making group I follow on Facebook. I hope to have a couple done soon to share with you! After my birthday weekend of course, which will be spent relaxing (and doing school work).

In addition to that fun, I’ve ordered a mountain of lace (to add to the mountain I already have) in wider sizes so I can try and make some cute lace bralettes and panties! I ordered all of this lace from this seller on Ebay, again suggested by a member of a Facebook group. So many yards of lace! The lace will also be used on other bra styles too, but it will make some seriously cute bralettes.

On Tuesday, I ordered both of the amazing Beverly Johnson’s Crafsty classes on bra making and today, I’ll be ordering her kit for the Sewing Bras: Construction and Fit class in addition to some other basic supplies, like cut and sew foam for making cups, underwire casing and other bits and pieces. A couple of weeks ago, I also ordered some awesome kits from Merckwaerdigh on Etsy, which I’m hoping I’ll get to pick up from the post office today! I’m going to use some OhhhLuLuSews bra and panty patterns as well as the Sierra by Madalynne and this pattern from EVIE la LÙVE on Craftsy. I really hope that I can make a few pieces out of each kit so I can have a whole bunch of mix and match pieces!

So besides learning how to make lingerie, this will also help me in the long run with making cupped corsets! Not to mention all the great matching corset/lingerie combos that I’m going to make!

Once things start coming in, I’ll show you guys some pictures of my haul! I can’t wait.

Oh and on a side note, I ordered a great little octopus tripod for my camera to wrap around my sewing machine so I can do some work-in-progress videos! Yay for tech! I also looked into a local eclectic, vintage and costumers fashion market called the Time Travelers’ Bazaar. It looks like a lot of fun and very cool vendors; you can check out the info for this years event here!

Until next time,

xoxo Amara Ann ;; VVA
